Oregonpalooza Day 2!

We woke up bright and early, little sleepy as you read from the previous post...but none the less ready to go! After a quick breakfast of granola and cheesy eggs for Bubbas we were ready to go see Castle Crags. I found out this day that Josh had been wanting to see these things his whole life. I couldn't believe it! I was so excited to see his dream fulfilled! Bears was ready to go and so excited to be camping.

We drove into the park to be greeted by a park ranger standing by an ice chest completely devastated by a bear trying to get the food. Just wonderful. Anyway, we drove up the scenic outlook road to get to the top of this hill. Now, the brochure boasted views of the crags and we were all excited about it. So we bounded out of the truck hiked up this huge hill only to see these beautiful crags about 2 miles away. Ack! Such a bummer. Guess to see these babies close up you have to do a pretty strenuous uphill hike for several miles. We decided that it probably wasn't a 3 year old friendly hike and just do with the view we had. Actually, no joke, our Railway RV park had a better view of these things than the state park. Pretty funny.

So back to the 5th wheel to hook up and take off for Oregon. We were headed to Ashland to see our friends up there the Therkelsens (Bob, Cheryl, Kristin, Matt, James & Peter). The back story here is...Kristin & I met in Sunday school way back when. Not even sure how old we were (do you Kristin?), but anyway, we were little. We became fast friends and so did our parents. They lived just down the road aways and many a slumber party was had between the two houses with us girls. Basically these wonderful people are my family. Bob & Cheryl are the parents, Kristin their daughter, Matt her husband, James Matt & Kristin's son and Peter Bob and Chery's son. Anyway, Kristin and I used to get into much trouble together ditching Sunday School and making Peter dress up like a girl. So much fun! Anyway, Kristin went off to college in Irvine many moons ago and Bob and Cheryl moved off to Ashland, OR. So we don't get to see them as much as we used to anymore which made this all the more exciting.

Bob & Cheryl recently opened up a Bed and Breakfast which is BEAUTIFUL! I stress that word. It is immaculately clean and beautiful. If you are ever in the area and need a place to stay, this is it. It is the Barking Raven Inn. Kristin and Matt just recently bought a house built in 1900 and are remodeling it. They flew Peter down for the weekend to help them out with the remodeling. So, they are staying with Bob and Cheryl in the main house for a little bit until the bulk of the demolition is done.

When we got to the house Josh made the 5th wheel do a "pirouette",his words, into their driveway. Shortly after we got settled, mom and dad got there too. We all had a great time catching up, seeing cute Gerber baby James and checking out the beautiful B&B. Bear and Bubbas loved watching all the doggies run around while Bear chased all of them proclaiming how much all of them loved her :). Cheryl made us a yummy dinner of spaghetti and some really good dessert. Not sure what kind of cobbler (did we ever solve the debate if it was rhubarb or not?) it was, but it is was absolutely divine! That evening I proceeded to beat the boys at Wii darts, but then dad won the next time.
Till the next day...Toddles!
